My wife and I visited last week and went on the tour. It was really interesting and lasted about an hour with a great audio guide along with practical things to do. I highly recommend visiting and at the end looking around the shop. We will certainly visit again if in the area.

Been waiting for some items since before Easter. Chased many times and always get promises but then nothing. So frustrating when you try to buy local.

We enjoyed the small but very interesting tour of the place, fascinating to see the equipment and to try our hand at letter carving I was told I'd got the job unlike my husband (gloat, gloat lol) however don't think I would really make the grade The staff were so lovely especially the lady in the shop. Some really lovely items for sale would definitely recommend.

Disappointed that we drove all the way there to find it closed on the day we arrived when the web site for it clearly says it's open

Sep23 - unfortunately, they kind of let me down recently, as I’ve waited and chased continuously a quote for quite a bespoke piece of slate, and they never came back to me either with the quote, or for any other information. After chasing five or six times I gave up and used Grey Slate & Stone (see my review there) which is sad as they usually great. Consequently, I’ve lowered my rating from a 4 to 2 stars. Original review: Really helpful and reasonable prices. I had some slate thresholds made to measure and they were beautiful, really edged and finished well and perfect for what I wanted. Would thoroughly recommend.

Only went to the shop. Some really nice options as well as some that look closer to tacky gifts. Quite reasonable prices and much cheaper than online delivery. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking.

Been here previously when we've been in Wales & like it. The little cafe does good wholesome food & REAL chips which were lovely along with everything else. They also have a nice butcher's now on site which also stocks a few vegs etc. The slate shop was interesting & some nice pieces, we bought 6 different things out of the shop so a good stop for us all round & they allow dogs in the cafe & the shop a big bonus for us, thank you

Visited today & able to bring our dog in too. Took about an hour to walk around, very interesting to learn the history. Given an audio guide which was very good. Were also give a small piece of slate to engrave with a chisel yourself. There are piles upon piles of pieces of slate everywhere, I guess waiting to be used. There were a couple of tradesmen working but they didnt interact. Shop is very good with some beautiful pieces. Cafè on site with indoor & outside seating & a butchers. Needs a bit of a tidy up tbh but interesting to visit. Cost £7 each for concessions.

We had an excellent experience here. The shop has some amazing things in there. Very helpful staff. Coffee shop worth a visit. Also a lovely butcher with a small green grocers attached. Lovely gentleman serviced us in butchers. My wife has allergies and he was extremely helpful. We didn't take the tour but we will be back. ASAP.

The film followed by a headset tour was a real insight as to how this business has kept running since it started in the 1800s. Tried the engraving, gave it up as a bad attempt, can appreciate how hard it is to engrave an entire stone. My wife was better than me. The shop had plenty of stock and some interesting literature about slate mining and works in the area. Recommend a visit, about 2 hours should cover it.

Prices seem to have rocketed here since Covid. It's a shame, as I nearly always purchased something every time I visited.
